Housing Programs
First-Time Homebuyers
You, like many people in Northern New Mexico, may not think homeownership is a realistic dream. Or perhaps you just simply don’t know where to start. Let The Housing Trust be your local source for honest advice, financial assistance, but most of all, your trusted advocate every step of the way.
Housing Counseling
If you can get together three years taxes and w-2 forms, three months bank statements and two pay stubs, we can tell you a lot about your prospects for homeownership. The only fee is $20 for a credit report, and you can even bring your own and your consultation is free.
At this meeting, one of our housing counselors will estimate how much you can afford, tell you about various types of down payment grants and discounted homes and also provide you referrals to bankers who are dedicated to helping first-time buyers.
Homebuyer Training
These award-winning classes cover the home buying process from deciding if its time to buy, through home maintenance and energy savings strategies. With our unique curriculum, our certified trainers and local real estate professionals will help you get a handle on the process.

Downpayment Assistance
For many potential homebuyers one of the biggest obstacles can be saving a down payment.
The Housing Trust offers down payment assistance loans of up to $25,000 for qualified families and individuals.
These programs are funded through a variety of sources including Federal Community Development Block Grant funds, repaid subsidies from past affordable housing developments and money granted through the Santa Fe Affordable Housing Roundtable.
Priority is given for larger families, lower income families, long-time Santa Fe residents and families who currently reside in substandard housing conditions.
